Advocating to Strengthen Child Care

Advocacy

According to Wikipedia, “Advocacy is a political process by an individual or group which aims to influence public-policy and resource allocation decisions within political, economic, and social systems and institutions.”

Taking action to strengthen child care is a deep commitment of the entire Toddler Town staff.

“Love Is Not Enough to Keep Your Family Strong” is the highest value of Parent Cafés.  Parent Cafés were created by Strengthening Families Illinois (SFI). They were established as an outlet for parents to have conversations and dialogue about keeping their families strong based on Protective Factors set up by SFI.  These Protective Factors are points of conversation about protecting and growing your family.

Protective Factors include:

1. Be strong and flexible
2. Parents need friends
3. Being a great parent is part natural and part learned
4. We all need help sometimes
5. Parents need to help their children communicate
6. Give your children the love and respect they need

Here at Toddler Town we want to engage and connect with our parents by using these Protective Factors. Parent Cafés will take place the first Friday of every month.  We invite you for donuts, coffee, information, and most importantly conversation with other parents.
